Long time Maritime Museum contributer and notable Lake Ontario author Susan Gateley is slated to return to the Maritime Museum on September 26th, at 1:30 pm, as our fourth installment of this years History Lecture Series!
Her lecture, titled "Water Power and Wealth on the Beautiful Lake," examines a brief account of how Lake Ontario became the most polluted Great Lake, what is being done about that, and what more needs to be done in the future. Based on her upcoming documentary and book titled "The Beautiful Lake," Susan will discuss the environmental history, through to present-day, of the Lake and will discuss the many problems evidenced during her 2013 circumnavigation of Lake Ontario aboard the little schooner Sarah B.
Further, she will discuss the activities by people who have solutions and are instituting change with respects to the Lake's ecological concerns.
For more information on this lecture, contact a Museum representative at 315-342-0480.
