Games, “wild beasts”, music by the New Horizons Chorus, ice cream sundaes and free tours of the Richardson-Bates House Museum are all on tap, Sunday, Aug. 23 from 2-4 pm at the Family Fun Day. The public is invited to come and take part in this summer fun activity for children and adults alike on the lawn at the museum, 135 E. Third St., Oswego.

There will be games, including a duck pond, fish pond, croquet, and more with prizes for everyone. As a special treat there will be music by the New Horizons Chorus singing a selection of animal songs, featuring appearances by “wild beasts” that will be available for pictures with children of all ages. Included will be a unicorn, dragon, lion, bear, and more. Bring your camera to get a picture and a lawn to enjoy the concert.

Ice cream sundaes, lemonade and ice tea will be available all afternoon. Cost of the games is just twenty-five cents each and sundaes are just fifty cents.. Persons can purchase tickets at the event and have fun all afternoon.

The Richardson-Bates Houses Museum will be open for tours. Proceeds from the event will go toward the operating budget of the museum. In case of rain the event will be held the following Sunday, Aug. 30 at the same time.

The Oswego County Historical Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1896 and dedicated to the preservation, promotion and interpretation of the historical resources of the county. The society owns and operates the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. in Oswego, a landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is open for tours Thursday through Saturday from 1 – 5 pm and other times by appointment. For more information contact the museum during regular hours at 343-1342.
