Presented in conjunction with SUNY Oswego's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, a screening of the 2005 drama "The House of Sand." Directed by Andrucha Waddington, the film is set in the desert of northern Brazil and "stars Fernanda Montenegro and Fernanda Torres, a mother and a daughter who happen to be among the national treasures of Brazilian cinema. They undertake not just two performances, but a suite, the harmonies and counterpoints of which are both subtle and breathtaking." (The New York Times). In the Marano Campus Center Auditorium. In Portuguese with English subtitles. Rated R. 115 minutes. Free and open to all.
