Eastern Lake Ontario Invasive Species Symposium
From Tuesday, June 06, 2017 -  07:00pm
To Wednesday, June 07, 2017 - 07:00pm

Pulaski, NY - The St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario region is host to a variety of unique and globally rare habitats. From the open waters of Lake Ontario to shoreline dunes and inland forests, these natural areas are the foundation for native, rare and threatened species of plants and animals. These areas also represent cultural and economic assets that are integral to the region. These same areas are being altered by non-native, invasive species of plants, insects and other organisms.

On June 7th partners of the St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO PRISM) will be hosting a 1-day event that will reflect expert knowledge on several of the region’s most threatening invasive species and will discuss management practices and new approaches. Continuing education credits will be available for several natural resource related certifications. This one day Eastern Lake Ontario Invasive Species Symposium is sure to enlighten all who attend. The Symposium is supported through a donation by the Douglaston Salmon Run Inc., along with support from The Nature Conservancy Central and Western New York Chapter. This event will be held at the Selkirk Shores State Park.

There is no charge to attend the Eastern Lake Ontario Invasive Species Symposium, but pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted. You may register by contacting Megan Pistolese by email at [email protected] or by phone at 315.387.3600 extension 7724. Seating is limited so don’t delay.
