Paul Garland and Sewall Oertling were long-time art professors at SUNY Oswego who have continued to make art in a committed way throughout their lives. Each has a unique vision that incorporates the land, water and sky in this region. This common inspiration shines through despite their widely divergent styles. James Gale Tyler (1855-1931) was a well-known and respected marine painter who hails from Oswego and after whom Tyler Hall and art gallery are named. Prompted by the recent donation of a third monumental work to SUNY Oswego, these three works will be supplanted by Tyler drawings lent by the Richardson-Bates House Museum, Oswego.
