Tour one of the largest geothermal installations in NY, followed by a meet & greet with HeatSmart CNY installer partners to learn the options to make your own home more energy efficient.
Geothermal can be used for sustainably heating and cooling buildings big and small. Come tour a BIG geothermal installation in our community, the Shineman Science Center at SUNY Oswego, to learn how ground source heat pumps work! This is also an opportunity to meet the installers chosen by HeatSmart CNY and discuss what opportunities are available to upgrade your home or business to more efficient heating and cooling.
The Shineman Center opened to the public in 2013, with Marano Campus Center directly to the west and Wilber to the east. Shineman serves the Oswego community as a leader in sustainability and demonstrates the college’s dedication to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the STEM program. The building itself showcases Dr. Richard S. Shineman’s experiential and interactive approach to learning, as well as innovative practices, to minimize the building’s environmental footprint. Thanks to the environmentally conscious options available, the Shineman Center was awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold-level certification.
The event is coordinated by the SUNY Oswego Sustainability and HeatSmart CNY, a project of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board and Alliance for a Green Economy.
