We get it! There's a lot to see here. That's why we've added a number of ways for you to find what you're looking for... and to browse smarter.
- To view event listings by town or city, use the Location Filter to the right.
- Browse by event type by clicking on the category you'd like to see more of; for example, clicking on "Free" will pull up all calendar entries that you do not have to pay to participate in.
- You can also type in keywords into the calendar's search bar, such as "yoga" or "bingo."
As we welcome Fall and all her splendor, Nature Club will resume on alternating Mondays south of Syracuse locations and Thursdays north of Syracuse locations. Monday South NC will start at 10 am until families wish to leave. Thursday North NC will start at 1pm until families wish to leave. All Nature Club events are free and open to all. An OLL representative will be there to kick off the event but participants are welcome to come and go as their schedule permits. Please help us spread the word about NC and invite a friend and we will see you outside!
Outdoor Life Learners community provides hands-on, nature-based learning opportunities for children of all ages. Our nature-immersion programs are geared towards young kids and their caretakers, youth and teens. Weekly gatherings and hikes provide a classroom without walls where children are free to roam and explore the outdoors, while skilled adults are always on hand to guide discussions, introduce seasonally-relevant themes and answer inquiries from curious minds.

www.outdoorlifelearners.comWe are meeting again at the beautiful Rice Creek Field Station in Oswego! Rice Creek Field Station, a unit of SUNY Oswego, is located one mile south of the main campus. It is a year-round facility to provide opportunities for field oriented biological and earth science teaching and research. Guiding this effort is the mission of Rice Creek to be a living laboratory for the advancement of knowledge through ecological research, education, and stewardship of the natural world.
The grounds surrounding the station include an herb garden and 300 acres of fields, forests, ponds and streams that are used for ecological research by faculty and students in formal course work and independent study projects throughout the year. Several student research projects are profiled in our Science in Action feature. In addition to academic offerings in Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, English, Education, Art and Communication Studies, the field station provides public programs in nature education for groups and individuals, school aged to adult. Four nature trails, open to the public, provide opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The Orange trail, about two miles in length, is the only trail open for bicycling. The trails pass through fields and woods in several stages of succession. Trail maps are available online and at the field station building.
