United Way of Greater Oswego County is partnering with Oswego community business leaders to hold the 16th Annual Stone Soup Luncheon on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm at Christ the Good Shepherd Church – Priory Hall on East Fifth Street Oswego NY. The mission of the event is like that of the original folk story, where villagers come together and each add a small component to the pot of soup, to help someone in need (and in the end) since everyone in the town gave what they could, the entire village benefited and was able to share a feast together. Local Restaurants / Businesses are essentially "brining something to the pot", by donating soups, salad items, rolls, baked goods, coffee / water, and more to make this a successful event to support the community! The Stone Soup luncheon was launched to increase the visibility of food insecurity throughout Oswego County and has grown into an annual event local agencies rely on. The funds raised are split between three local food pantries and these organizations also share the nonperishable food items donated by attendees. Stone Soup is a social event that combines good food and generous people for a worthy cause. Attendees will enjoy a delicious lunch while making a difference in the community. United Way will be accepting a donation of $5 per person, and those attending are urged to bring a donation of nonperishable food items. Those unable to attend the event but would still like to make a donation may call United Way of Greater Oswego County at 315-593-1900. For more information, visit www.oswegounitedway.org.
