The longest running bluegrass festival in New York takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at Dwyer Memorial Park in Little York.
The community-friendly event started in 1973 after the launch of Bill Knowlton’s Bluegrass Ramble radio show on WCNY-FM. The show can be heard Sundays from 9 p.m. to midnight. Now affectionately known as “Mr. Bluegrass of Central New York,” Bill emcees the event annually.
This year’s program features host band The Delaney Brothers, Atkinson Family, Diamond Someday, Gospel Way, Joe LaMay & Sherry Reese, Lake Effect, Larry Hoyt & the Good Acoustics, Northwater, Off The Wall, Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads, Salmon River Boys, Sean Martin Band, Spare Parts , The Cadleys, and The Easy Ramblers, among others.
