Kayak Go-Float (Brewerton)
Thursday, September 12, 2024, 07:00pm

kayak glow float brewerton lighthouse park 9.12.2024

This family friendly event is sponsored by the Brewerton Community Facebook group. We will be launching from Light House Park on County Route 37 in the Town of Hastings. We will start the paddle at 7:30 sharp. The event is for non-motorized vessels ONLY! Kayak, paddle board, canoe Etc.

We will have several safety/escort boats on the water from Caughdenoy and Brewerton Fire Departments as well as a police presence to assist our paddle. We will paddle towards the waterfront and turn around near 916, paddle back towards Caughdenoy to around the Wild Horse and paddle back to light house park. There could be kayak/paddle board rentals available at the park if you don’t have a kayak. (This is in the works)
We also may possibly have some food trucks there as well.

Could there be a band/music? It’s possible if we get some sponsor money. All this is possible, not guaranteed.

Here are the rules of the event:

- no motors, paddles only
- decorate your float with some kind of glow sticks, glow lanterns, head lamps etc. All floats must have some type of lighting.

-🚨🚨🚨🚨Per the Sheriffs office they are requesting the following for safety:

- The required equipment is:
PFD for everyone, under 12 has to be wearing it, recommend everyone be wearing it of course.

A sound signaling device = a whistle

A white light = a flashlight, it doesn't need to be on but to signal oncoming boats for visibility purposes.
- We will stay together as a group (generally if people want to stop places they are welcome.)
- Have fun, laugh, say hello to a neighbor, introduce yourself to someone you don’t know 😄
- All participants participate at your own risk. Be safe!

A HUGE thanks to the Town of Hastings and Supervisor Bush for the use of Light House Park.

There is no rain date, if weather is not favorable we will make a game day decision on whether or not we will float.
Fingers crossed for a good weather night!
