October Guest Chef Dinner at Oswego County Salvation Army

Steve Canale, Alison Scanlon and their staff of the Press Box, will be providing the next Guest Chef Dinner for the Oswego County Salvation Army on Tuesday, October 7, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M., for dining in or taking out, at the Citadel, 73 West Second Street, Oswego. Their menu for the evening will be meatloaf, their famous macaroni and cheese, Italian green beans and tossed salad. Members of the Advisory Board will provide Italian bread and an assortment of desserts and beverages.

The Press Box has been pleasing Oswego palates for more than 29 years. According to Alison Scanlon, daughter of Steve Canale and manager, “We offer a wide assortment of pub-style menu items including burgers, paninis, wraps, entrees, grilled pizza, and salads, served up in a sports themed atmosphere.” The restaurant, on two tiers, offers many large screen TVs and a lake view from the deck. Famous diners have included Steve Levy and Linda Cohen, ESPN anchors, who still come to the Press Box whenever they are in town, and George Pataki, former New York State governor.
The Guest Chef dinners are organized by the Advisory Board and offered bimonthly to everyone in the community to help support the services of The Salvation Army throughout Oswego County. The final dinner this year will be served on Election Day, November 4. Arrangements are underway.

The Oswego County Salvation Army Corps provides fresh-cooked meals five days each week in both Fulton and Oswego, groceries from its food pantries, and many other services to individuals and families in need throughout Oswego County.

Planning is already well underway for this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. The need is to raise $106,000. There will be opportunities for individuals and families, as well as organizations and groups of all kinds to lend a hand. Call the special Red Kettle line at 315-207-3359 to volunteer or ask questions. Anyone wanting more information or to offer service as a volunteer may call 343-6491 or stop at the office at 73 West Second Street, Oswego.
