Tracy Sklenar Agility Workshop
Saturday, February 28, 2015, 09:00am - 05:00pm

Tracy Sklenar has been training dogs and competing in dog agility for more than 15 years. She is the Training Director of Leader of the Pack in central New York and on the faculty of Agility University. She also travels throughout North America to teach seminars and compete. Tracy has competed successfully in agility with a variety of dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and temperaments. Her dogs have appeared in multiple national agility finals in the USA and Canada in AKC, USDAA and AAC. Tracy has handled her dogs to the podium at these National and Regional events, as well as achieved many high level titles in AKC and USDAA. Tracy has competed internationally both as a handler and as a coach on 9 different world teams – she is likely the only handler in the world to appear in international finals as a coach for 2 different countries and as a handler with her own dog in the same year. Most recently, Tracy & Export represented the USA as a member of the AKC’s European Open team in Hungary.
Tracy uses positive reinforcement, games and shaping to build brilliant behaviors in the dogs while teaching the handlers to be consistent and positive in their handling and dog training.

This will be a full day event; participants may choose either a working spot in the Morning Session OR the Afternoon Session at the time of registration based on session availability.

Morning Workshop:
9 am - 12:30 pm Learn Your Dog: Handling Solutions For You and Your Dog

Learn to handle with confidence and run with intent to bring out the best in your partnership with your dog!
We will work on specific drills to continue to sharpen your handling and teamwork with your dog – this will include getting better connection, timing, crosses, turns, making the best choices for you and your dog, and strengthening any weak areas in your handling tool box. These drills will focus on common challenges found in AKC and USDAA courses, along with some of the international-style challenges that are now beginning to appear on North American courses.

Level: This workshop is designed for dogs competing at any level

Afternoon Workshop:
1:30 pm - 5 pm International Techniques to Master AKC and USDAA Challenges

Expand your toolbox with the international handling techniques that will allow your dog to “read’ the course with speed and clarity! Fast lines and tight turns are easily achievable with these tools, as well as keeping your dog on course and getting rid of refusals. We will focus on how to execute them and where to apply these techniques to the challenges we commonly see on USDAA and AKC courses. This will be a great prep for big events such as USDAA Cynosport in CA and AKC Nationals in Reno as well as any course challenges on any given weekend.

Level: Dogs must be competing in AKC Masters/Excellent or USDAA Advanced/Masters or UKI/CPE equivalents

There are a limited number of working and auditor spots for this workshop. All participants must be registered and paid by February 20, 2015. There will be no walk-ins permitted the day of the workshop.Dog Training
