Musical Comedy 'Pippin'
Friday, February 06, 2015, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

The Oswego High School music department will find its "Corner of the Sky" when it produces the 1972 Tony award-winning musical hit, "Pippin" on Feb. 6 and 7 at the Faust Robinson Auditorium. With recognizable tunes by Stephen Schwartz and choreography inspired by original director Bob Fosse, the musical comedy is sure to please the Oswego community.

"Pippin" follows the journey of young prince Pippin (Kyle Osmun), the son of historical King Charlemagne (Mark Forger), as he makes his way from boyhood (Connor Mulcahey, young Pippin) to adulthood. Sampling all of life's joys and disappointments under the watchful eye of the Leading Player (Matt Spaulding) and his mysterious troupe of traveling "players," Pippin receives advice from his rambunctious grandmother Berthe (Rachel Leotta) while side-stepping the devious plotting of his stepmother Fastrada (Olivia Flint) and her son Lewis (Ryan Smith).

Pippin finds love and family life with Catherine (Kaylee Baldwin) and her teenage son Theo (Matt Oldenburg), but is tempted by the "players" to find ultimate fulfillment in a death-defying finale.

"All of this is told through beautiful and exciting music," music director and Oswego High School music teacher Robert Dumas said. "Our audience will instantly recognize the popular songs 'Corner of the Sky,' 'I Guess I'll Miss the Man,' and 'Morning Glow' which were recorded in the 1970's by The Jackson Five and the Supremes."

The large show ensemble includes Brynn Adner, Ana Alcasid, Nathaniel Ahart, Will Bandla, Haley Baker, Mary Bornheimer, Lauren Boshart, Emily Bradshaw, Kate Breezee, Crystal Brooks, Nolan Callahan, Amber Canbek, Matthew Caraccioli, Olivia DeLorenzo, Isabel Dunning, Brooke Farnsworth, Sarah Fitzgibbons, Matt Gill, Ryan Gimeno, Hannah Griffin, Natalie Griffin, Kristin Gurule, Taylor Hamer, Mary Hirna, Lauren Jones, Leah Jones, Lisa Kanbur, Aidan McGreevy, Keelan McGreevy, Emily Oldenburg, Courtney Osmun, Ellie Page, Sierra Palmer, Jeremy Ruotolo, Katt Ruotolo, Paige Russ, Doug Schneider, Megan Shafer, Dakota Sinclair, Sam Spaulding, Abbi Stewart, Hannah Strzelinski, Leah Taylor, Faith Washington, and Trent Wilkinson.
