Write a commentCharles E. Dixon, 89, a former resident of Lathrop Street in Oswego, passed away Wednesday, at St. Luke Health Services.
Mr. Dixon was born in Oswego, the son of the late John and May (Copeland) Dixon. He was a life resident of the area.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Navy. He later also served in the US Army.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a union carpenter on many local projects, including the construction of the tall stacks at the Oswego Steam Station.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews; and several close friends who were like family to him, Mary Ann and Robert Kosbob and their son Gregory, and Rebecca and Kevin Oakley and their son Lucas.
Mr. Dixon was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Krakowka, and Shirley Sugar; and two brothers, Frederick “Minnow” Dixon, and Henry Dixon.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 Wednesday, May 2nd, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, May 3rd, in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of choice.
