On Thursday, ambassadors from the Greater Oswego Fulton Chamber of Commerce and representatives from Fulton’s Common Council officially welcomed Mexican bodega Abarrotes Viva Mexico to Fulton.
The business is filled with unique Mexican produce like Chayote and cactus, along with spices, candies, soft drinks, and more. It is located on 481 in Fulton, across the street from Fajita Grill and opened over the winter.
Owner Dionicio (Dani) Yesca and his family legally immigrated to the US from Mexico and have been working hard to achieve their vision of the American Dream. The family’s passion and integrity, and the quality of the staff they employ, have been a strong factor in their immense growth according to COO Jay Thela.
Thela said, “My grandfather always told me that it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a child to make a village, it takes a village to make a community and a community to make a home… Everyone in this community is important to me. If you spend $0, $1, or $150, I will treat you the same. For if you lose connection with the people and make it all about the money, you end up losing both.”
In addition to the bodega, the family owns four restaurants under the name El Mezquite de Luna. The restaurants are located in Fulton, Hastings, Oneida, and Sylvan Beach.
The Yesca family brings authentic Mexican cuisine to our community, from sourcing quality ingredients for their bodega to preparing delightful dishes at their chain of restaurants, El Mezquite de Luna.
Stop in and see what they are all about!
