The date represents a change from the original for this event in the schedule for Focus on Faculty, a series presented by the SUNY Oswego music department.

Robert Auler will accompany Jorgensen on piano and Ahreum Kim will join on violin for Aram Khachaturian's "Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano." Auler and Kim both are music faculty members.

Jorgensen and Auler will perform Debussy's "Premiere Rhapsodie," Rossini's "Introduction, Theme and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra" and Mozart's "Concerto for Clarinet, K622," a showcase for clarinet solo written in 1791 shortly before the composer's death.

"Each composition programmed on this varied recital has special meaning -- either historically to the development of clarinet music or personally to me," Jorgensen said. "Mozart's 'Concerto' is special because he did not plan on writing solo and chamber works for clarinet, but he was so enamored after hearing clarinetist Anton Stadler's playing that he felt inspired to create this pivotal work.

"Debussy's 'Rhapsodie' is a gorgeous and spacious work indicative of the impressionistic movement," Jorgensen said. "With the addition of professor Ahreum Kim to the faculty, I was excited to add Khachaturian's 'Trio,' influenced by an Armenian folk song and Uzbek folk melody, to the program. Rossini's 'Introduction, Theme and Variations' is an exciting work influenced by his dramatic and exuberant operatic style."

Parking is included in the price of the ticket, and is available in the employee and commuter lots adjacent to and across Washington Boulevard from Sheldon Hall.
