Write a commentThe Oswego Music Hall played host to some very special guests on Thursday evening.
Support organization Clear Path For Veterans held a free mobile canteen at the site, and the Music Hall provided free entertainment for the event.
Alex Behm, Chief Community Officer for Clear Path, said, "We are delighted to have a great community organization like the Oswego Music Hall step up to host us for this canteen."
"We try to hold these outreach events two to three times per month," he continued. "The Central New York chapter of Clear Path For Veterans serves eight counties, and we do our best to reach out to all of our veterans and military personnel."
Staff members served a delicious hot meal to those who stopped by, including Jay Rector, a US Air Force veteran from Mexico. "Clear Path and the Music Hall have done a great job," Rector said. "It's good to see some familiar faces, and the live music is really good, too!"
Oswego Music Hall board member Matt Talamo organized the performances of nearly two dozen local musicians, including several who were also veterans, who volunteered their time to play at the event. "All of these folks donated their time and talents for this show," said Talamo. "We all really appreciate the sacrifices our veterans have made, and we want to support them." Several groups, individual performers and impromptu duos kept up the activity on stage, culminating in an all-star jam to close out the evening.
Ellen Wahl, president of the Music Hall board, said, "We have really enjoyed working with Clear Path For Veterans the past couple of years. We've done outreach shows twice with the Adam Ezra Group and Clear Path, and this is also the second time we've hosted the mobile canteen. I hope we're able to continue this relationship for a long time to come."
