Aramburu's Hat-Trick Fuels Fifth Straight Win

OS Hockey

The No. 9 nationally-ranked Oswego State women's ice hockey team downed visiting William Smith in a 5-1 contest on Sunday afternoon at the Marano Campus Center Arena. The win makes it five in a row for Oswego, improving to a 16-4-1 overall record and 12-3-1 in the conference. William Smith falls to 2-18-1.

With the first period scoreless, the Lakers scratched the scoreboard first thanks to sophomore Alexa Aramburu's goal coming at 3:05 into the second. A William Smith goal would later answer Oswego's, sending both teams into the third period knotted at 1-1.

In the third period, it was all Laker ice hockey, as four goals hit the back of the net. In just 20 minutes of action, Aramburu scored twice to complete her hat-trick for a career-night. The Glen Rock, N.J. native had herself a career game, notching an assist as well, giving her four points in total.
Sophomore Brianna Rice added two goals of her own for good measure at 13:47 and again at 17:37.

Oswego goalie Tori Trovato had another notable performance, as the junior collected 18 saves in 59 minutes of play.

The Lakers will take a five-game win streak into Friday's 7 p.m. non-conference battle against Stevenson University.
