     The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 7, at the DSS offices, 806 W. Broadway, Fulton, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

     The main phone number for the Oswego County Department of Personnel has been changed to 315-349-8209. The previous number, 315-349-8367, is no longer in service.

     St. Luke Health Service residents, staff and kindergarten students from the Oswego Community Christian School gathered in the Riverview Room to enjoy a performance presented by the Light of the World Ballet Company.

     The Oswego County Youth Advisory Council will host a Family Bowling Day from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Lighthouse Lanes, 295 E. Albany St., Oswego.

     Oswego County Opportunities, Inc (OCO) Literacy Volunteers Program is offering a tutor orientation for its 2013 spring session from 5-8 p.m., April 15.

     Eagle Beverage Company and Guinness are partnering with local taverns and restaurants to "Paint the Town Black" to raise money for local fire departments. The event is under way now through St. Patrick's Day.

     One Oswego woman, Arlene Blum, and her daughter, Lisa Gray, were excited to share the story of how a local jewelery store went above and beyond to repair Blum's wedding rings when she had to have them cut off while at the Oswego Hospital.

     The public is invited to the Lake Ontario Conference and Event Center, on East First Street, in Oswego, for a compelling series of lectures about the War of 1812 along the New York-Canadian Frontier.

     For the first time in recent memory, the Oswego Players needed to cancel last Friday's performance and 75th season opening reception due to inclement weather forecasts.
