The H. Lee White Maritime Museum, 1 W. First St. Pier, will unite D-Day and World War II veterans with the museum’s U.S. Army Transport (USAT) LT-5, the last functional U.S. Army vessel that participated in the Normandy landings, at a unique commemorative event Sunday, June 6, the 77th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

Members of the media are invited to cover this exclusive event. A commemorative ceremony and tours of the vessel for WWII/D-Day veterans and their families will begin at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The vessel will welcome veterans for on-vessel or dockside tours following the ceremony.

The LT-5 is owned by the Port of Oswego Authority and maintained by the museum. For more information on the story of the LT-5, visit https://hlwmm.org/pages.php?page=19

The museum is working with Honor Flight Syracuse to identify and contact World War II veterans, D-Day survivors, and members of their families to encourage participation in this event.

Contact: Museum Executive Director Mercedes Niess at 315-342-0480 or [email protected]

Note: The LT-5 will be open for tours to the general public free of charge from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6.
