Write a commentThe Ontario Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently collected several pairs of used eye glasses and donated them to the Lions Club International “Recycle for Sight” program.
The used eye glasses will be processed and sorted to be distributed free of charge by Lions Club members and other volunteers to residents of low- and middle-income countries.
“Community service is a key focus of the Ontario chapter of the DAR,” said Regent Lorraine Gregory. “We are a very active group, and our members devote more than 1,000 volunteer hours of service to organizations and individuals across Oswego County each year. The ‘Recycle for Sight’ program gives us an opportunity to help people in developing countries who lack access to basic eye care services.”
The DAR is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, patriotism, education and honoring patriots of the Revolutionary War. Members share a common bond of having an ancestor who served in the American Revolution.
