Write a commentDonald F. Scharf, 69, a resident of Oswego, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at Upstate Hospital.
Born in Oswego, he was ta son of Lawrence and Bessie (Leblanc) Scharf.
Donald was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He retired as a bus driver for the Oswego City School District and had previously worked for Nestles and ITT Grinnell.
He was an active communicant of St. Peter's Church. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his sons, Stephen (Trish) and Joseph (Lorrie) Scharf, all of Oswego; a daughter, Dawn (Walter) Knopp, of Sterling; his brother, Ricky Scharf, of Oswego; eight grandchildren, Justin, Bryant, Christopher, Carrie Boatman, Lindsay and Adam Scharf, and Taylor and Chloe Knopp; two great-granddaughters, Abby Lynn Scharf and Aliea Bell Scharf; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Susan, in 2005; a son Gerald Scharf; two brothers, Pete, Billy; and his three sisters, Patricia Scharf, Marie Bateman and Shirley McCarthy.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at St. Peter's Church. Entombment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
