Eagle Beverage announced plans for a new distribution center in Oswego County. Currently Eagle has warehouses in Oswego and Jefferson County where they serve more than 750 accounts. With the growth of the business a major expansion is necessary.
"We have out grown both of our facilities," said Dan Dorsey Jr. of Eagle Beverage. "We have out grown our Watertown facility due to growth in business and number of packages we carry. The building in Oswego is more than 100 years old and needs structural work."
The new 62,000-square-foot distribution center/warehouse will be located in Oswego on the site of the current facility and will address all the companies current infrastructure needs. The facility is being designed and built by LUNCO Corporation, Carthage. The new facility will result in a change in the company's operations. Product will be kept in Oswego and the current Watertown warehouse will be used as a cross docking facility. With the new facility, Eagle will be able to serve their customers more efficiently and in a more cost effective way.
"With two smaller sized facilities we have to do everything twice and in an overloaded area," Dorsey said. "Once we have finished construction of the new, larger, more modern facility, we will have a better design, more space and a better layout that will allow us to pick orders in a more efficient and accurate way. By warehousing our entire inventory in one spot it allows for more operational efficiency, manage inventory and control costs. Our customers will not see anything different when it comes to their delivery and sales calls."
At one time, there had been talks of building a new facility in Watertown. However, once an assessment was done, it became clear that building a new building in Watertown was only going to address the issues with that facility, and not the overall company needs. By building a new facility in Oswego, all of the issues are addressed and in the most effective way.
Plans call for the immediate continued use of the Watertown warehouse as a staging operation, where our trucks will unload from Oswego and then transferred for our local delivery routes.
Michael E. Lundy, CEO, LUNCO Corporation has been involved with Eagle Beverage on the planning and design of the project since its inception, including preliminary work in the Watertown area. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months. The new distribution center/warehouse is slated to be finished this December with the new offices being done early March of 2014.
Eagle Beverage is an equal opportunity employer.
