     Edward R. Czirr, 92, a resident of Oswego, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at the Manor at Seneca Hill surrounded by his family.

     Born in Oswego on July 31, 1921, he was a son of the late Edward W. and Louise (Schmidt) Czirr. He graduated from the Oswego High School and had attended Syracuse University.
     He was employed with the Fitzgibbons Boiler Works before World War II. After World War II, he was employed as an engineer at Northern Steel and also with the Oswego Speedway.
     Mr. Czirr was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre.
     He was a member of the United Steelworkers.
     Ed enjoyed playing golf and working in his garden, growing several vegetables, including his favorite, tomatoes. He enjoyed puttering around his house, always finding things that needed to be fixed.
     Ed and his wife, Mary, also spent several months each winter at their condo in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
     Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Mary Schuler; a son, Eric (Teresa) Czirr, of Fulton; a daughter, Linda Czirr, of Victoria, British Columbia; three sisters, Ruth Donovan and Milly McCann, both of Oswego, and Marie Bird, of Massachusetts; and two granddaughters, Lisa Czirr and Emily (James) Czirr Finelli.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
     Entombment will be in All Saint's Mausoleum.
     Calling hours are from 9-10:30 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home, 154 E. Fourth St.
     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church, 201 E. Sixth St., Oswego N.Y. 13126.
