About one in seven children in Oswego County and over 25% of adults are food insecure. Many children rely on the breakfast and lunch they receive at school as their primary food for the day.
The Erin’s Angels organization was started in the Phoenix Central School District to provide weekend meal backpacks to children who would otherwise not have enough to eat when they were not in school. Responding to community needs, the program has expanded beyond Phoenix and includes summer meals delivered to homes, collaborating with other schools and organizations to meet nutritional needs, and offering a scholarship program.
