Oswego Speedway's Fall Championship returns Saturday, Sept. 14, featuring the Davis Bros. Inc. 'Open-Wheel Fall Finals,' which will crown track champions in the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS divisions for the 2013 season.
     A 75-lap Novelis Supermodified main and a 35-lap Pathfinder Bank SBS feature will finalize the yearlong 'Road to the Championship' with a special added bonus for open-wheel racing fans.
     The ultra-fast and competitive NEMA Midgets, NEMA Lites, and ATQMRA TQ Midgets will join the championship program all for just $20 with kids 16 and younger once again free if attending with a paid adult.
     Fall Championship Weekend will actually begin Friday, Sept. 13, with an open practice test session for all divisions running from 5-9 p.m. Grandstand admission will be free for the hot laps.
     The weekend's racing will kick-off earlier than normal at 3 p.m. Sept. 14, due to the substantial number of divisions in attendance, with grandstand gates opening at noon.
     A total of six drivers are mathematically still in the running for the 2013 Novelis Supermodified track championship at Oswego Speedway.
     Otto Sitterly, Joe Gosek, Shaun Gosselin, Dave Gruel, Dave Danzer and Pat Lavery could all still be crowned champion. However, odds makers would likely sort the potential candidates as Sitterly, Gosek, Gosselin and Gruel.
     Sitterly leads all drivers with three wins this season including triumphs in the Jim Shampine Memorial, RoC 100, and the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified. The driver of the Nicotra Racing No. 7 has held the championship lead for much of the season, but did lose it briefly to runner-up Gosek, before regaining the top spot after Gosek crashed out of action in a tangle with Sitterly back on August 17.

     Sitterly now holds an 11-point edge on Gosek heading into the finale as he looks to capture his sixth Speedway championship.
     Gosek has not picked up a win all season but has been one of the most consistent runners on the circuit this year. Up until his DNF Aug. 17, Gosek had finished every main event this season in the top ten positions, keeping him on pace to attempt to collect his third Speedway title.
     Third in the standings, with back-to-back wins to end the season, is Shaun Gosselin. Gosselin is only 22-points out of the lead and looks to keep both Sitterly and Gosek honest in their quest for the title. The driver of the No. 26 would be even closer in his pursuit of an unprecedented first championship were it not for his blown engine to start the night during the $10,000 to win Mr. Supermodified Aug. 3.
     Gruel stands only 32-markers out of the lead in the No. 50 with one victory this year coming back July 6. Gruel has had his share of bad luck this season, but has always bounced back and as a result has a legitimate shot at surprising everyone with a first track championship.
     Danzer and Lavery each have one victory this season and are both still mathematical candidates for the title. However, being 55 and 56 points out of the lead, they would need tremendous amounts of help in order to surpass the front four.
     Michael Muldoon, Michael Barnes, Dan Connors Jr. and Brandon Bellinger complete the top 10 in the season long Novelis Supermodified championship standings with Tony Steiner leading Clayton Brewer by 31-points in the race for Rookie of the Year.
     On the Pathfinder Bank SBS side of the pit area Russ Brown, Mike Bond, JJ Andrews and Jason Simmons are eligible candidates for the Speedway's Small Block track championship.
     While Andrews and Simmons have a mathematical chance at the title they would each need to sweep the evening with heat and feature wins with Brown not starting the night's main event.
     With that said, the title again comes down to seasoned veterans Brown and Bond, with Bond still needing substantial help to try and chase down the No. 13.
     Brown is in search of a fifth Speedway championship and may be able to pick it up without a main event win. The Mannsville, NY driver has been a picture of consistency this season and leads Bond by 58-points with one race remaining.
     In order for Bond to have a secure chance at stealing the title away he would need to win both his heat and feature event with Brown dropping out of the main event at the drop of the green flag.
     Teammates Andrews and Simmons are only 17-points behind Bond making a three way battle for the runner-up championship position a more likely scenario.
     Defending SBS track champion Kreig Heroth, Andrew Schartner, Dalton Doyle, Rob Pullen, Jon Tesoriero and Jack Patrick fill the top ten in the standings.
     Jeremy Pitcher leads Anthony Losurdo by 73-points in the Rookie of the Year race.
