The Saturday night program will allow officials to increase the Clone Heavy Championship to 100-laps, without fear of curfew issues, making this year's main attraction the 'RJ Kart Sales' Fall Frenzy 200.
"Last year was sort of a learning process for us in regards to the Fall Frenzy," said Oswego Kartway promoter, Dan Kapuscinski. "I think we have hit on something with this Fall format, and opening the finale to a Saturday night should give us some more freedom and help to draw in more competitors."
In 2013, the Fall Frenzy 150 saw a 100-lap main for Stock Heavy and a 50-lap main for Clone Heavy. Kapuscinski says that excitement is already building at the thought of Twin 100-lappers at the Kartway.
"The racing last year was outstanding, and with the switch to a Saturday night for our Fall Frenzy finale it simply made sense to increase the Clone event to 100-laps as well," said Kapuscinski. "Each event, the Stock Heavy 100 and Clone Heavy 100, will run on the same format, with each being split into 50-lap segments with a 10 minute break in between."
The Saturday switch will also allow officials to schedule the entire listing of Kartway divisions for all three nights of action.
"Last year we had to limit the number of divisions we raced for the Fall Frenzy 150 finale because of the risk of going over our curfew time," said Kapuscinski. "This year, racing on a Saturday for the Fall Frenzy 200, we can start a touch earlier and include all of our weekly divisions.
The Fall Frenzy qualifying nights on September 5 and September 12, which will see qualifying heat lineups determined by draw, will reward drivers who are both consistent, and those who drive to victory lane.
Qualifying night feature winners in Stock Heavy and Clone Heavy will be locked onto the front row for the Fall Frenzy 200 on September 20. Should a driver win both qualifying night features, the driver that finishes in second position on September 12 will lock onto the front row as well.
Those front row starters will still participate in qualifying time trials on September 20, with the fastest of the two starting on the pole position and the other starting outside of row one.
Two more drivers will join the front row starters in both Stock and Clone Heavy as guaranteed qualifiers. The two highest drivers in points from the qualifying nights, that are not qualifier feature winners, will be made guaranteed starters as long as they qualify within .4 of a second of the 12th fastest speed in 200 time trials on September 20.
Those who do not make the cut through the Fall Frenzy qualifiers, or in race day time trials, will be forced to the consolation to fill the final two positions in the main event. No more than 14 karts will start either the Stock Heavy 100 or the Clone Heavy 100.
Entry fees for the Stock Heavy 100 and Clone Heavy 100 will be the same, with member pricing introduced in 2014, as opposed to pre-entry fees. This year's entry fee will also include a pit pass for the Fall Frenzy 200.
The Stock Heavy 100 and Clone Heavy 100 will each have an Oswego Kartway member entry fee of $50. Non-member fee for each race will be $60.
Qualifying night entry fees will be the same as the regular season.
Both divisions will again have a 70% cash payout based on the number of entries. If there are 20 or more entries the Top5 finishers will be paid. If there are 19 or fewer, the Top3 will receive a payout.
A halfway leader bonus will again be paid in 2014 with $100 going to the leader of lap 50 in both Stock and Clone Heavy. A fast time bonus of $100 will also be paid in each class.
Lap sponsorships will again be made available in 2014. Nearly $800 in lap money was generated in 2013, making for a total of nearly $2,000 in prize money awarded at last year's Fall Frenzy 150.
The Fall Frenzy 200 will follow all weekly Oswego Kartway tech rules. The Kartway's rulebook is available at www.oswegokartway.com. All divisions will be required to run Burris tires. Entrants in the Stock Heavy 100 and Clone Heavy 100 must be at least 15 years of age.
All other divisions, aside from Stock and Clone Heavy, will use the two qualifying nights to set their heat race line-ups for the Frenzy finale on September 20. Heat lineups will be set by overall points from the first two events on September 5 and September 12, with the driver accumulating the most points starting on the pole position. Feature lineups will then be set straight up from heat finishes.
All support divisions will run for Top3 trophies, and other prizes to be announced, during the Fall Frenzy 200 Championship.
