Gosek is on the extensive Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame Master List of Nominees, of which only a handful are selected each year for induction into the Hall of Fame.

The GSSHoF encourages community participation and feedback for potential inductions through various online resources. With that said, Oswego Speedway and Supermodified fans can help endorse Gosek for this year’s class.

Gosek is entering his 40th consecutive season of Supermodified racing and competition at the famed, Oswego Speedway. With wins in all four decades that he has competed, Gosek is one of the most decorated open-wheel drivers in the country, let alone Central New York.

A two-time Oswego Speedway track champion and three-time winner of Oswego’s heralded Budweiser International Classic 200, Gosek has scored more than 70 Supermodified victories in his career across the United States.

Gosek’s accomplishments were affirmed in 1996 when he was given the opportunity to compete for a spot in the 80th running of the Indianapolis 500, which he qualified for. During that month of May in Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway received a record number of letters, phone calls, faxes and communications in reference to Gosek’s attempt to qualify and compete in the greatest auto race in the world.

In 2016, Gosek returned to Indianapolis for the 100th running of the great event to be celebrated as one of the select men and women to have started in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Gosek was inducted into the Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame in 2011.

The Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame is the community’s way of recognizing and paying tribute to Central New Yorkers who have made significant contributions to the world of sports. The word "Greater'" in the Hall of Fame official name, not only refers to its geographic focus, it describes the key goal and purpose it shares as an organization and as a community.

The Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit, all volunteer organization comprised of 35 committee members with 10 executive committee members who process all of the nominations for consideration into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame. Final selection of inductees is made through majority committee vote and endorsement of the executive committee.

Fellow Oswego Speedway legends Doug Heveron (Class of 2004), Jim Shampine (Class of 1992) and Nolan Swift (Class of 1990) have all been previously inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame.
