The First Universalist church in Central Square is proud to present the captivating and uplifting talent of singer-songwriter Colleen Kattau in a “Spring Thaw” community concert on Sunday, April 8th from 1 to 3 p.m.

Colleen is a bilingual vocalist, guitarist and composer of songs. Her poetic originals and charismatic stage presence inspire hope and spark imagination and audience participation. After a show audience members frequently tell her “You touched my soul”. Colleen combines the melodic and vocal gifts of artists like Joni Mitchell with the fearless lyrical punch of the best topical songwriters. She seamlessly incorporates Latin and Native American influences into her songs for a unique and satisfying sound. Her latest album, “So much going on” was a 2015 Sammy nominee, and her latest song "This Hen's Gonna Crow" knows that "when the hen crows the state will fall" and that music - good music - is the soundtrack for transformative change.

In this performance, you will hear Colleen play music that is original, genuine, passionate and entertaining. The concert will be held in the church sanctuary, which has been praised by past performers for its balance of acoustical intimacy, mellowness and clarity. The audience is also invited to enjoy refreshments and meet Colleen between sets. There is no cost to attend but a free-will offering is encouraged from those who can afford it. Don’t miss this opportunity to share great music with friendly company. Your heart will warm and your soul will smile!

This concert is the second in what the church hopes will become an annual series to welcome spring.
