Fitzhugh Park Elementary students recently explored a variety of career fields during an annual event that brings together businesses, agencies, government officials and representatives from several job sectors.

The Career Day event encourages students to research different industries and jobs they may want to pursue one day. Then, students have an opportunity to talk to representatives from different fields.

This year, the school welcomed the following: Colette Badger (nurse); Tiffany Bevacqua (Soul Center - Therapy and Wellness); Beth Serow (911); Mary Beth Fierro (OMS principal); Cheri Beck (OMS literary Coach/ SUNY Oswego professor); Larry Miller (GJP); Rich Burritt (Burritt Auto); Charnele Ford (Schneider Trucking); Tim Kirwan (Oswego County judge); Robert Corradino (Oswego Mayor); Justin D'Elia (Oswego City Police Department); Ben Miller (NYS Trooper, OCSD SRO); Jennifer Losurdo (Youth Bureau); Jessica Dickquist (SUNY Oswego); Chris Aloi (Vice President Vaspian Communications); Oswego City Fire Department; and Novelis.

“This is an amazing event that our students look forward to every year,” said Fitzhugh teachers Mary Kate Vashaw and Erin Sabatini, who help organize Career Day. “It’s truly a collaboration and an incredible partnership with so many businesses, agencies and organizations in our community. We are grateful to everyone who participated to make this event a success once again!”
