For The Kids campaign raised the most it has ever raised in its three years. This year, the Oswego State Men's Hockey Team and Delta Kappa Kappa raised $18,254!

On May 2nd, the Oswego State Men's Hockey Team along with fraternity Delta Kappa Kappa presented their check to Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County. Kevin Villarreal, a member of DKK, was the marketing director and part event coordinator stated that "We went to give Karrie Damm, the director of the Child Advocacy Center the money, she cried out of happiness." For Villarreal, this was an eye-opening experience, "I'm truly grateful to have been given this opportunity to help out and truly thankful for everyone who has helped us out in the slightest bit."

For The Kids started three years ago when Eli Kimswallow, of the Oswego State Hockey Team and Denvol Haye, a member of DKK, joined together to help bring awareness to child abuse within Oswego County. Since their journey in 2014, For The Kids has raised over $34,000 for the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County.

Tyler Fey, another member of DKK and the financial director of For The Kids, stated that he was very pleased with the way the events went this year. Along with Fey, Villarreal is excited to see what next year will bring through For The Kids.

Shawn Hulshof is a member of the hockey team and was also the marketing consultant. For The Kids raising $18,254 could not have been done without the support of the students of Oswego State and the community of Oswego. According to Hulshof, the group not only exceeded their goal of $15,000 but "we're able to educate the county of Oswego about child abuse."

For The Kids has done more than bring awareness of child abuse to Oswego County, it has done more than raise over $34,000 in three years for the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, but has also brought together students and the local community. Hopefully, this will become a growing trend as we see For The Kids flourish and blossom into something bigger and bigger each year.
