Francis W. "Butch" Gallagher, 76, a resident of Oswego, passed away November 19, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Francis and Florence (Gill) Gallagher.
Francis was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He retired as a Fire Fighter for the city of Oswego after 30 years of service, and had previously worked for Loblaw's in Oswego. He was a member of the Elks #271 for more than 56 years. He was an avid Yankees fan, SU basketball and NY Giants fan. Butch enjoyed Oswego hockey and the Oswego Speedway.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (Manale) Gallagher; one daughter, Melissa Place of Oswego; one son, Jeffrey Gallagher of Central Square; one grandson, Robert Gallagher; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Guarrera.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at St. Joseph's Church, Oswego. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street, Oswego.
