Their talent and energy will grace the Music Hall stage located at the McCrobie Building, 41 Lake Street Oswego on Saturday November 5th. Doors open at 6:45 for the 7:30 event. Advance sale tickets are $22.00 and are available at the door for $25.00.
Repeatedly tagged as one of the most exciting bands on the bluegrass scene and winner of the 2014 and 2016 International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) Instrumental Group of the Year Award, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen have continued their award winning ways. Their 2015 album Cold Spell was GRAMMY nominated for Best Bluegrass Album and their latest album- Family, Friends & Heroes was released in March to critical acclaim. As critic Grayson Haver Currin relates, “with his hotshot quartet Dirty Kitchen, Solivan has consistently tested the dividing lines between bluegrass and newgrass. The band packs dazzling solos into dizzyingly small spaces, funneling bluegrass's love of dexterity into pop's love of brevity. There are occasional psychedelic flourishes and dips into smoldering ballads, but, at its best, Dirty Kitchen harnesses the most urgent aspects of the four-minute rock song format and bluegrass's technicality at once.”
Since Frank Solivan left the cold climes of Alaska for the bluegrass hotbed of Washington, D.C., he’s built a reputation as a monster mandolinist — and become a major festival attraction with his band, Dirty Kitchen. Frank and fellow bandmates banjoist Mike Munford, 2013 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, award winning guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Chris Luquette and bassist Jeremy Middleton, simmer a bluegrass stew from instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills so hot, they’ve been named Washington Area Music Association’s Best Bluegrass Band of the Year for four consecutive years.
Dirty Kitchen has developed an impressive reputation for combining rare individual virtuosity with impeccable interplay and close harmonies as the foursome tackles intricate compositions. They are known for using traditional instruments, but not being bound by tradition: instead they let themselves go where the music takes them.

You can enjoy the performance of Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen at the all-volunteer family friendly Music Hall venue .The venue is the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake Street, Oswego. The atmosphere is intimate with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage. Desserts, snacks, popcorn and beverages are available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased on-line at http://oswegomusichall.org/ or at the river’s end bookstore, 19 West Bridge Street in Oswego. Holders of tickets purchased before 1 pm on the day of the concert will have preferred seating. After 1 pm, seating will be general admission. Doors open at 6:45 pm and ticket prices for this event are $22.00 if purchased in advance and $25.00 at the door. Children under 12 are half- price and those under 5 are free.
The next National Showcase will be on Saturday November 19th and feature rising stars Cassie and Maggie MacDonald. The Celtic Duo encompass everything you could ask for in a musical act, their talent is only surpassed by the joy with which they so generously share it. While still staying true to their Celtic roots, they have explored and tested the boundaries of traditional music, bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre with their original compositions and arrangements. Sisters, cohorts and collaborators, Cassie and Maggie have been enchanting audiences far and wide with their infectious energy, driving rhythms and lilting melodies.

Open Mic Fridays are held the Friday before all Saturday shows. Performers get a chance to showcase their talents on the National Stage with a world class sound system and the new, professional stage lighting. All ages are welcome, making it a popular place for local and regional talent to be heard. The entry fee is $2.00 to cover BMI and ASCAP fees. Signups start at 6:30 and the entertainment runs from 7-10 pm.
The popular Hook Series, returns for its third year. “The Hook” highlights the talents of three Regional Singer/Songwriters in an intimate round robin setting allowing the performers an opportunity to interact with the audience, the other artists and discuss their creative process. The next event will be on 12/9/2016. Hosts to be announced.
The Music Hall has been run entirely by volunteers from its inception over 39 years ago. Volunteers can earn admission to shows through different tasks. Music Hall concerts are made possible in part with funding by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
