Are you looking for a convenient way to explore and learn about the history of the Port City? Now, it is made easy with the new Pass to History, which allows entry to any museum in Oswego.

A Pass to History can be purchased for $20 and is available at the H. Lee White Marine Museum, The Beacon Hotel and other hotels around Oswego. Each pass holder is also able to get a stamp in their passport if they have the pass with them, said Mercedes Niess, the executive director of the H. Lee White Marine Museum.

The idea for the pass to history was brought about last year, according to Niess. First, the passes were sold as just a prototype at SUNY Oswego and the Canal Conference before it became a campaign this year and made available to the public.

The pass offers admittance to the H. Lee White Marine museum, Fort Ontario Historic Site, John D. Murray Fire Museum, Oswego Railroad Museum, Richardson-Bates House Museum, Safe Haven Museum and Education Center and the Fort Ontario Museum. Information about the Oswego Lighthouse is included with the pass.

"This pass gives people from out of town a chance to get a good deal and appreciate the off-sites and hotels that Oswego has to offer," Niess said. "People visiting the city will be able to stay in Oswego and know exactly what's available for them because of the hotels promoting these passes; it's really just like an inclusive visiting package."

Passes are available now and each pass never expires. Contact Niess at 342-0480 for more information on these passes to history.
