Write a commentThe Central New York Ghost Hunters (CNYGH) recently spent two nights at the First Universalist church in Central Square to investigate what has been a long reputed history of a small number of “spirits” said to inhabit the church.
Formally “The First Universalist Society of Central Square”, the church has been in the village for over 110 years with numerous and varied associations with the surrounding community and beyond. Although the church ghosts appear to be rather shy, the group did get inklings of beings still present.
The church will be researching further to compare the results of these investigations with what is known of the church’s history. Meanwhile, the CNY Ghost Hunters (www.gotghosts.org) will present some of their results at the church as part of a larger presentation and dialogue on paranormal investigation. This event will be held October 19th at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
Central New York Ghost Hunters was founded in 1997 and is one of the largest and oldest such groups in New York State. Per Pamela Mossotti, CNYGH VP, "Even though the spirits were not overly chatty as far as EVP [electronic voice phenomena], this makes the results even more interesting because the Church is very unique, having been built and held by the same Society for over a century. We hope to help investigate the relevance of any EVP that was captured to scientifically prove that spirits do linger at specific locations that played a part in their earthly life."
The presentation will conclude with Q&A and dialogue so all can learn more about this compelling field. There is no charge to attend but a free-will offering is appreciated from those who can afford it.
