Write a commentThe Oswego Public Library was recently the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Gifford Foundation to purchase two interactive whiteboards, PolyVision Eno Boards, for instruction.
One of the boards was installed in the library's Public Computing Center where computer courses are taught and the second one is installed in the Community Room.
"We are very grateful to the Gifford Foundation for providing us with this current technology for instruction," Jessica Galvin, instructor at the Public Computing Center, said. "Not only will the eno boards help us to improve our instructional methods, but the hands-on capabilities of the touch screens open up possibilities to offer new workshops, and to greatly enhance activities for Digital Media Club. The grant from Gifford Foundation keeps the Public Computing Center current. Touch screens are the technology of today and for the future. We thank the Gifford Foundation for their generosity in providing us with the Eno Boards."
The Public Computing Center (PCC) at Oswego Public Library offers programs to meet the needs of local community members to learn about a variety of computer related topics. Introduction to Computers and Internet Basics courses are held every month: there are two-hour workshops Saturdays and there is assistance for job seekers on Monday afternoons from 1:30-4:30 p.m. A Digital Media Club for young people in grades 3-6 is held Wednesday afternoons from 4-6 p.m.
