Expect construction on Route 48 between Murray Street and Erie Street for the next 3 to 4 weeks.
State Route 48 Green Gateway project is aimed at enhancing the state Route 48 corridor, reducing stormwater runoff and improving the sidewalks and landscaping.
The Green Gateway project is a state grant designed to cover 75 percent of the total $430K cost and has been delayed several times. In the plan, "Bioswales" (linear, vegetated ditches) are planned for the area between the curbing and sidewalks and directed at absorbing as well as filtering stormwater.
