The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation (CiTi) is thrilled to announce a generous $50,000 donation from the Huhtamaki Foundation toward the establishment of the new Manufacturing & Automation Lab.
This cutting-edge facility will house classrooms and laboratory spaces equipped with advanced FANUC robots and collaborative robots (cobots), supporting the development of manufacturing and automation skills for students and employees alike.
The CiTi Manufacturing & Automation Lab (CMA) will enhance existing student programs, including Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH). Additionally, it will launch new adult education pathways focused on careers in manufacturing and automation. The lab will also offer regional manufacturers access to state-of-the-art equipment and space for upskilling opportunities, strengthening the local workforce and driving economic development.
Brian Heffron, Administrator of Workforce Development & Community Relations, highlighted the significance of this donation:
"Huhtamaki has a longstanding partnership with CiTi BOCES, dedicated to helping students successfully transition into the workforce. This generous donation will provide students and employees with a state-of-the-art facility to develop and enhance their automation skills within the manufacturing sector, eliminating the need for out-of-state travel. It reflects Huhtamaki's unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in Oswego County communities."
The CMA Lab is funded through a New York State Empire State Development Capital grant, alongside contributions from local manufacturers and economic development entities.
