Human Concerns Food Pantry Receives Grants From The Shineman Foundation

Human Concerns, Inc wishes to express our gratitude to The Richard S. Shineman Foundation for its generosity in awarding two grants to assist us in serving those affected by food insecurity within the City of Oswego School District.

The strategic grant award of $100,000, has funded in part the Human Concerns "Expanding Nourishment Project" starting with the purchase, renovation and relocation to a larger, more accessible food pantry. This project has increased our storage capacity by 30% therefore enhancing our program distribution capabilities between deliveries from the Food Bank of CNY and ultimately better serving our community's food insecure families and individuals.

Human Concerns, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing food to those in need for more than 35 years.  As of December 23rd, 2024, we have moved and reopened Human Concerns Food Pantry to 75 East 2nd Street.  We are open Monday through Friday, 12:00 noon through 3:00pm.  A Grand Reopening Celebration will be announced in the near future.

In addition to the strategic "Expanding Nourishment Project" grant, we are grateful to The Richard S. Shineman Foundation in awarding Human Concerns, Inc $3500.00 to supplement our Thanksgiving Meal Distribution Program.  With the assistance from the Shineman Foundation and many local donors, we were able this year to provide all the foods necessary for a complete Thanksgiving meal for 356 families.

The tremulous support and generosity from The Shineman Foundation allows us to continue our mission and together serve the growing needs of our community for those who face food insecurity.

With sincere gratitude,

Human Concerns Board of Directors

"At the Richard S. Shineman Foundation, we proudly support Human Concerns, Inc.'s critical mission to address food insecurity within the City of Oswego School District. Through the 'Expanding Nourishment Project' and the Thanksgiving Meal Distribution Program, Human Concerns are significantly impacting the lives of individuals and families in need.  We commend Human Concerns for their dedication and are honored to be part of this impactful work."
