Human Concerns Inc. held a Grand Reopening on Tuesday afternoon to officially open their new location at 75 East 2nd Street in Oswego.

City officials and Chamber of Commerce representatives joined Human Concerns board members and volunteers to tour and learn about the building.

“The new building is a great improvement over our former home on East 4th Street,” said board member Jon Chawgo. “It's all on one level, and we have a much better setup for delivery trucks to be unloaded than we've ever had before.”

Board President Joanne Johnson said that the new facility was much needed. “Our committed volunteers allow us to serve our community five days per week,” she said. “There's an extremely high instance of food insecurity in our area, one of the highest in New York State.”

Johnson said that the organization moved out of their previous location in December, but they were only closed for one week during the transition. “We've been serving our clients while we've been building and stocking our shelves,” she said. “We're just about finished now. We're hoping to add an indoor walk-in cooler soon, and to get the driveway paved in the spring.”

Human Concerns, Inc.’s non-profit Food Pantry is located at 75 East 2nd Street in Oswego, between East Bridge and East Cayuga Streets. They serve residents living within the Oswego City School District.
