he H. Lee White Maritime Museum presents “Tales of the Haunted Ha rbor: Myths, Legends and Lighthouse Stories” on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 7:30 pm gates open with pre-show activities.
The public is invited to join us at the historic Derrick Boat 8 for a night of mysteries, myths and ghost stories.
The evening features st oryteller, Jonel Langenfeld, Professor of Theatre and Theatre in Education, Storytelling for Social Justice and Director of the Expressive Arts Therap y Minor at SUNY Oswego and experienced seasoned professional.
“Last year, Jonel directed the children’s play The Great Rope, which was a rousing success. Several performers from that event will participate in t his year’s Tales and we are thrilled to have Dan Williams return to lend hi s acting and musical talents to this magical evening. The audience will be able to participate in interactive elements at the beginning of the show su ch as ...the already popular “body” garden,” noted Mercedes Niess, Executiv e Director.
Audience members are encouraged to bring their c amera to take pictures of the “Monster of Lake Ontario” puppet, ghost perfo rmers and the amazing Oswego sunset. Children are encouraged to dress as th eir favorite ghost character.
“This is my sixth year doing T ales here at the Museum and I really look forward to sharing these great st ories. This year we have several new lighthouse tales to tell. It certainly makes one appreciate Oswego’s history and our waterfront. The audience wil l be both entertained and surprised.” stated Langenfeld.
“Jo nel has made a point to involve local community talent as well as area coll ege students and faculty as performers and technicians. She certainly bring s a rich history and a premiere storytelling experience to this museum’s an nual tradition,” noted Richard Bush, president of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego.
The audience is asked to bring a lawn cha ir and blanket to enjoy this evening of mystery and ghost tales. Admission is $6 for adults and accompanying children, 12 years and under, are free. S UNY and Oswego High School students with ID are $3. A satellite shop of the Treasure Chest gift shop will be open this evening.
