This live performance is all don e on a 90-foot tall ship, the Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre. The event is part of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s “Arts on the Waterfront Series. ” Tickets are available for $10 pre-sale and $12 at the gate.
The Caravan performance known as “Hacked: the Treasu re of the Empire” integrates text, poetry, video, humor, music, movement, m asks, props and special effects into a magical theatrical experience t hat is both compelling and inspirational. The shows are staged on the entir e deck, including the masts and rigging as well as on the water and land su rrounding the vessel. “Hacked” is a contemporary tale set in a futuristic a nd dystopic world of pirate hacker activists taking on the largest global b ank on the planet – the Mammon Corporation, residing in a “house-of-horrors ”-esque superstructure.
“This may be one of the coolest, most unique pe rformances of the summer,” said Mercedes Niess, executive director of the H . Lee White Maritime Museum. “This performing group brings a combination of innovative stylistic staging, imaginative music and dance, and colorful en tertaining themes!”
“Hacked” will also be performed at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton Aug. 14 through 16, and their Saturday night showings have already sold ou t. The Caravan Stage Company has performed “Hacked” this year in Jacksonvil le FL, Portsmouth VA, Bivalve NJ, and Yonkers and Brooklyn NY.
Performances of “Hacked” s tart at 9 p.m. and last 90 minutes. The show is rated PG-13 as parental gui dance is suggested. This event is lawn seating only and audience members ar e asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Tickets may be purchased at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum on the West First Street Pier in Oswego.
