The Oswego Fire Department
Open House / Safety Day will be held this Saturday, October 3rd from 10am-4
pm at the department headquarters, located on East Cayuga Street. This popu
lar annual event brings awareness to Fire Prevention Week, which begins Sun
day 10/4. The public is encouraged to visit the fire station for some famil
y fun, while learning how to stay safe!
Oswego Fi
refighters will be on hand to talk with the public and conduct station tour
s, apparatus tours, and to have some fun with the kids. Many other local pu
blic safety agencies will be at the station supporting the event such as th
e Oswego Police Department, the Oswego County Sheriff's Department, the New
York State Police, the US Coast Guard, SUNY Oswego Public Safety, the Oswe
go County Fire Coordinator's Office, and the Oswego County Traffic Safety C
ouncil.
Lowe's will be at the event and will have representa
tives on hand with their "Make & Take crafts, and the Oswego City / Cou
nty Youth Bureau will be at the station as well. Kids will be able to try o
n Firefighting gear, get their faces painted, spray water from a real fire
hose, and have some fun playing games and learning about safety.
