accepting donations of children’s books at the 5th annual S
now Day to be held Saturday, Ja
nuary 30 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Arts Center. The book
collection is in recognition of Dr. Seuss and the upcoming spring musical
Seussical, Jr. Members of the cast of more than 30 youth will perform an ex
cerpt from the show at 11:30 and Seuss characters will be on hand to visit with childre
n.
The books will go to Rotary International as part of the ir worldwide and local distribution. Any child donating a book at the door will receive a free item at the snack bar on Snow Day held on the Cayuga Co llege Fulton Campus, 11 River Glen Drive in the Arts Center. Sunrise and&nb sp;Noon Rotary Cl ubs members will volunteers at the event along with CCC Student Government Organization members to help staff the popular event that is expected to dr aw nearly 200 families.
In addition to a snow theme, organi zers are planning a children’s carnival with new Seuss themed games and art projects. Children can step into a Snowman backdrop for a photo op, play f or prizes in carnival games and more in a day that promises great indoor fa mily fun. Carnival tickets will be available at the door for a nominal fee and every child is guaranteed winning prize tickets to redeem for stuffed a nimals, bead necklaces, toy cars, books, and so much more! The Snack Bar wi ll serve popcorn, chili cheese dogs, hot chocolate, donuts, and more. Stewa rt’s Shop in Minetto is supplying donations of hot dogs, buns and donuts fo r the 4th year in a row.
“We look forward to this event every year, snow or no snow,” said Director Nancy Fox. “We call it a ‘friend-raiser event’. It’s a community day of fun that brings families an d organizations together to explore the arts. What a great way to start the New Year!”
