SUMMARY:Import From Zap Calendar 12212022 - Camp Foundations So you want to be a YouTuber
URL;VALUE=URI:https://iheartoswego.com/17613/camp-foundations-so-you-want-to-be-a-youtube
 r.html?tmpl=component
DESCRIPTION:\nAugust 7th - 11th: So you want to be a youtuber?\nIn this one of a kind w
eek, campers will explore the best of what youtube has to offer through cre
ativity and working together. Campers will move from in front of the screen
to behind the screen as they use their imaginations to design, shoot, and
produce short clips such as DIY, stop frame videos with legos or toys, and
camp music videos.\nTo those concerned with a camp promoting screen time an
d youtube:\nI totally understand your concern. I hope this will help. As an
educator and parent, I have found that youtube is a part of most of my stu
dents’ daily lives and has become the fastest growing “profession” I hear s
tudents wanting to pursue. Like all adults, I try and limit screen time and
push them towards interacting with friends in person and building with the
ir own hands. Just as our video gamers week has taken kids interest and sho
wn them how to play live versions of their games outside and problem solve
with their peers, a youtube week will not involve watching youtube at all.
Camp is the perfect place for children to explore their passions and intere
sts in new, engaging ways. Younger campers will design toy “sets” using tra
in tracks, barbie supplies, legos, or even outside fairy houses. Then we wi
ll let them act out a movie with the toys that they can show their parents.
My son, has already started planning a ninja warrior video he wants to do.
Older campers will talk about target audiences, marketing, and how to use
technology safely and responsibly. Then they will work in groups to create
things they are excited about such as a “mock camp reality show,” a stop fr
ame video, a camp music video, or invent their own game and show it off in
a little video. The joy of youtube is that it provides the excuse for kids
to explore ANY interest they have and then “share it in the form of a video
.” All videoing will be controlled by counselors and parents will have a ch
oice to opt out of their child being posted online. Campers will not be hud
dled behind screens watching videos, they will be engaged and excited in th
e creative progress of making videos. This requires working together, build
ing, playing outside, and the coolest part will be that what they create wi
ll be captured as a memory well beyond their time at camp.\nCost: $145 * Ch
