SUMMARY:Import From Zap Calendar 12212022 - Seed Lending Bank
URL;VALUE=URI:https://iheartoswego.com/21173/seed-lending-bank.html?tmpl=component
DESCRIPTION:\nSeed bank/library has fruit, flower,vegetable,and herb seeds \nLibrary da
tes and times for 2018:\nThe Crazy corner seed lending bank will be at the
:\nFulton Library from 4pm-6pm on Mar 7, Apr 4, May 2, June 6, No date in J
uly, Aug 1, Sept 5, Oct 3.\nOswego Library from 4pm-6pm on Mar 14, Apr, 11,
May 9, June 13, no date in July, Aug 8, Sept 12, Oct 10.\nHannibal Library
from 4pm-6pm Mar 22, Apr 19, May 17, June 21, no date in July, Aug 16, Sep
t 20, Oct 18.\nMexico Library from 4pm-6pm Mar 28, Apr 25, May 23,June 27,
no date in July, Aug 22, Sept 26, Oct 24.\nWhat is the Crazy corner seed le
nding bank?\nIts run by myself and my daughter and is funded by myself and
my husband. We are not affiliated with any company or library. Why do we do
it? We thought that it was a great idea giving seeds to people who want th
em with the hope to encourage seed stewardship. We have lost over 93% of ou
r food variety in the last 100 years. The hope of seed libraries is to dist
ribute seeds and preserver those seed varieties by seed saving.\nSo how doe
s it work? Seeds are free usually we pack them in packets of 5-10 seeds or
more depending on supply. You can request as many seed packets/varieties as
you like there is no limit. We give you the seeds with the hope that you w
ill save seeds from the plants that you grow using the seeds from the seed
bank. So for example you get pumpkin seeds and grow the seeds at the end of
the season when its time to carve jack lanterns you save the seeds from on
e or more pumpkins and bring those seeds back to the seed bank. So that we
can restock our supply and there are seeds for the next year. And you save
the rest of the seeds for yourself to roast or to plant the following year.
\nNow you are saying I don't know anything about saving seeds! We are here
to help you. You can email us questions at annescrazycorner@gmail.com or v
isit our web site annes crazy corner. We are working on seed saving how-to.
You can come to the library dates listed above and talk to us or bring us
the fruit, veg, or flower you want to donate seeds back to the seed bank fr
om and we will save the seeds or show you how to save the seeds. What if yo
u can't make it to the library dates? Then we can try and set up a meeting.
\nAnyone can donate seeds to the seed bank even if they did not borrow see
ds from us. This year we have seeds that have been donated by some local in
dividuals. But most of our seeds this year have come from donation programs
from seed companies. Our seeds were donated by bakers creek, seed saver ex
change, pleasant valley, high mowing seeds, Renee's garden, Southern exposu
re, cawaco RC&D.\nWe look forward to a great year and seeing many new f
aces at the library. Hope to see you there.\n This event was imported from:
