Friends of History’s Parade of Trees 30th Anniversary
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Friends of History in Fulton’s Parade of Trees! In 1988, the last payment was made on the mortgage for the J.W. Pratt House. At that point, the Board of Dire ctors for the Friends of History felt that it was time to show the communit y how much they were appreciated for all their hard work and effort in savi ng the Pratt House. That decision marked the birth of the Parade of Trees. The board decided that an event with beautifully adorned trees decorated by local participants of the community would be a wonderful way to display an d express gratitude. Ever since, every year, the halls of the Pratt House a re decked with trees that are brought in and decorated by participating sch ools, non-profit organizations, and not long ago, it was opened up to busin esses in the community. Those who visit to view the amazing showcase of tre es vote on their favorite one. The non-profit winners receive a cash prize.
We invite you to this year’s Parade of Trees which will take place N ovember 26 – December 7, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (including Saturday, Decembe r 1). Our open house is Sunday, December 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The J.W. Pratt House Museum is located at 177 South First Street, Fulton, NY 13 069. For more information, call 315-598-4616.
