DESCRIPTION:\nThis is a quick and fun way to experience the ancient Japanese Raku proce
 ss of firing pottery by removing the pottery from a hot kiln and cooling it
  rapidly in open-air containers. Wonderful unexpected iridescent glazes mak
 e the process magical. Billie Jo Peterson, a local artist and art teacher a
 t Oswego High School, will be in charge of firing. People who wish to parti
 cipate in the firing process must wear eye protection and closed toe shoes.
 You may choose a piece of bisque pottery, glaze it, and help in the firing 
 process for $15. Note: Raku glazes often contain heavy metals, so these con
 tainers are for decorative purposes only and should never hold food items. 
 These vessels will also be porous, so they are not suitable for holding wat
 er (i.e. flower vases).\nThis workshop will be re-scheduled if it rains.\n
