URL;VALUE=URI:https://iheartoswego.com/40716/maintaining-indigenous-roots-across-nations-
 and-generations.html?tmpl=component
DESCRIPTION:Redobles de Cultura proudly continues the work of their parents, elders and
ancestors, as it is not only their honor but their duty to celebrate and t
ransmit the richness of the Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Boricua expressions wit
h communities worldwide. Redobles de Cultura (RDCNYC) is a collective of to
p New York City-based Afro- Puerto Rican Bomba practitioners and are proud
members of today's "new" and younger generation of Bomberxs, cultural worke
rs, and educators. Redobles members share the Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbe
an cultural and traditional practices that had surrounded them from a very
early age, but this time, through their eyes as first and second-generation
"NuyoRicans." RDC showcases Afro-Puerto Rican traditions to communities--L
atinx and non-Latinx alike--while also creating bridges with peer Bomberxs
and DiaspoRican groups across the country. RDC strives to revitalize and ex
pand the urban and Bombazo "scene" in NYC, introducing new venues and commu
nities to the Boricua sounds, providing spaces for Latino and NuyoRican com
munity members to celebrate and embrace their tradition. Sponsored by SUNY
