Doors open at 6:30 with sign-ups taking place then and throughout the ev ening, as space allows. Musicians typically play three songs each.
Gu est Host Larry Kyle leads off Open Mic Friday and will be followed by perfo rmers who sign up that night. Performers have the option to enter the jurie d songwriter’s competition held every open mic. Winners will perform at the Music Hall’s Season Finale Emerging Artist Showcase to be held in May. Adm ission is by a cash or check donation.
All ages and experience levels are welcome. Budding performers, singer-songwriters and musicians of all g enre are given an opportunity to perform in a supportive environment using cutting edge professional sound and lighting equipment.
Being a veter an and friend of the music scene, Larry Kyle has performed over the course of six decades starting in 1977! He has released five original albums in hi s brother’s-based blues group, DAMDOG. That is over seventy-five self-penne d songs and has written hundreds more. Not only performing live with his ba nd, he does justice to an acoustic solo and duo act in which he incorporate s guitar, harmonica, vocals, foot percussion, slide guitar, kazoo and more to create a unique live show! Scheduling guest hosts for Open Mic Fridays is Coordinator Bryan Dickenson. Open Mics are held on the Friday night prior t o Saturday’s National Stage concert.
The spring season continues with Joe Henson opening for Open Mic on April 14. Steve Watson leads off the 28 th.
The Oswego Music Hall venue is located in the McCrobie Civic Cent er, on 41 Lake Street in Oswego, and is wheelchair accessible. It is adjace nt to Breitbeck Park and overlooks Lake Ontario and the Oswego Harbor. The atmosphere is intimate with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage. Li ght refreshments will be available.
Oswego Music Hall is a fam ily-friendly, non-profit organization that has been run entirely by volunte ers from its inception over 40 years ago.
